Re: [AUDITORY] Unreal engine virtual acoustics

Within the collaborative research center "SFB 1300 Hearing Acoustics" several virtual acoustic simulation tools in combination with Unreal Engine are used. One of those is TASCAR (https://tascar.org, https://github.com/gisogrimm/tascar), the work on the link to Unreal Engine was done by Maartje Hendrikse:

Hendrikse, M. M. E., Dingemanse, G., Grimm, G., Hohmann, V. & Goedegebure, A. (2023). Development of Virtual Reality scenes for clinical use with hearing device fine-tuning. Proceedings of the 10th Convention of the European Acoustics Association Forum Acusticum 2023, 1401–1408. https://doi.org/10.61782/fa.2023.0300

Here the acoustic engine runs as a standalone process. Model geometry needs to exchanged manually, but 6dof position information of sources, receivers and reflectors can be exchanged in real time via network.

A description of some other tools (SOFE, RAZR, RAVEN) and content used for hearing research with Unreal Engine can be found here:

Dear list,

I am willing to establish an Unreal engine based framework for realistic auralization of dynamic VR simulations.
I'd be looking for physics-based acoustic simulation.
There are a few plugins available...I wonder which options other researchers are finding are best to implement in Unreal. Has anyone successfully implemented the ITA Virtual Acoustics Plugin? It seems to me as the more capable solution.

Thanks in advance for your time and insights
