[AUDITORY] PhD studentship studying musical training, collaboration between NTU and BU

Dear Auditory list,

The Department of Psychology at Nottingham Trent University has a fully-funded PhD studentship available! The project will compare musical and non-musical training and its effects on auditory performance and cognitive functions, using both EEG and behavioral measures.

NTU Psychology is the largest psychology department in the UK, with >150 staff from all disciplines of psychology, and a thriving community of cognitive, perceptual and neuroscience research. NTU was Guardian UK University of Year 2019 and Times and Sunday Times UK Modern University of Year 2022. Nottingham is one of those “just the right size” places; centrally located within the UK, with plenty of city life yet within easy reach of the countryside, including the beautiful Peak District.

This PhD studentship is a collaboration between the Department of Psychology at Nottingham Trent University (supervised by Nathaniel Zuk, PhD) and the Department of Speech, Language, & Hearing Sciences at Boston University (co-supervised by Jennifer Zuk, PhD, CCC-SLP). While the student will be based in Nottingham, UK, the student will have funded opportunities to travel to Boston, USA over the duration of the fellowship in order to meet with the co-supervisor.

The application deadline is 12/01/2024. If interested, please contact me (Nathaniel Zuk, nathaniel.zuk@xxxxxxxxx).
