[AUDITORY] Invitation to apply for fully-funded summer undergraduate research program: Computational Methods for Understanding Music, Media, and Minds



Dear colleagues,
We are glad to inform you that applications are now being accepted for the University of Rochester NSF Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program on Computational Methods for Understanding Music, Media, and Minds for Summer 2023.
 
Students in the REU will work on projects in exciting, interdisciplinary research areas that combines machine learning, music theory and cognitive science.
 
The project topics for Summer 2023 include: “Modeling Brain Responses During Naturalistic Music Performance”, "The Impact of Musical Features and Expertise on Summary Statistical “Gist” Processing of Music, and “Continual Learning in Deep Neural Networks of Audio-Visual Data”.
 
The REU experience will also include:
  • Programming boot camps focusing on Machine Learning/Deep learning in Python.
  • Workshops on professional development and preparing for graduate school (in partnership with the  Kearns Center for Leadership and Diversity)
  • Career Pathways seminar series by academic and industry professionals
  • Social outings and networking opportunities
