The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN is seeking applications for an assistant or associate level tenure-track faculty position in Hearing Science/Audiology. Researchers incorporating
diverse methodologies to understand normal and/or disordered hearing are particularly encouraged to apply. Primary criteria are excellence in research and teaching. A PhD in Hearing Science/Audiology or a related field is required. Successful applicants will
be able to contribute to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and will have a demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in the academic community. The position is a 9-month appointment with an anticipated start date
of August 2023. Housed within the state-of-the-art Lyles-Porter Hall, The Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences has accredited and highly ranked clinical programs in Audiology and Speech-Language
Pathology, and awards Bachelors, Masters, AuD, and PhD degrees. With 20 tenure track and 14 clinical faculty members, the Department is diverse and collegial, and hosts a thriving interdisciplinary community. Research areas represented in the Department include
Speech & Hearing Sciences, Neuroscience, Audiology, Speech-Language Pathology, and Linguistics. Research-clinical collaborations are encouraged and are facilitated by the M.D. Steer Speech and Hearing Clinic housed within the building,
which serves as a Medicare and third-party insurance provider, provides diagnostic and rehabilitative services to patients across the lifespan - including infants, and averages over 2,000 patient visits a year. Faculty have access to an adjacent MRI research facility and have the opportunity to capitalize on an extraordinary network of collaborations and resources that includes strong support for inter-disciplinary and translational research.
Faculty lead two interdisciplinary NIH training grants in Communication Disorders and in Auditory Neuroscience. Faculty in the Department have ongoing collaborations with other departments: Department of Psychological
Sciences, Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering, Department of Biological Sciences, Department of
Linguistics, College of Veterinary Medicine, Indiana University School of Medicine, and programs/centers (e.g., Purdue Autism
Research Center, Advanced Methods at Purdue, Center for Brain, Behavior, and NeuroRehabilitation, Purdue
Institute for Integrative Neuroscience, Center on Aging and the Life Course).
