Hi Aud list. I’m advertising two PhD positions that are up for grabs. Both are part of the EU consortium COMM4CHILD (http://comm4child.ulb.be/), which is recruiting 15 Early Stage Researchers
(ESRs) broadly looking at optimizing communication skills and social inclusion for children with hearing impairments. Eriskholm Research Center (part of Oticon) and
Oticon Medical are hosting two of the 15 ESRs. Both will be based mainly in Denmark, with secondments planned to other partners through the project. Funding for both positions is for 3 years, starting sometime between June and December 2020. ESR4 (hosted by Eriksholm Research Center)
Job description: This position offers the exciting potential to complete a PhD at an industrial research centre as part of a large EU-funded Innovative Training Network. As part of this
project you will use fNIRS (a light-based functional brain imaging technique) to investigate how the brains of cochlear implant users adapt to auditory-tactile stimulation, and how the strength and speed of this adaptation relate to speech understanding outcomes. Requested expertise: You should have a scientific mindset, be driven by a desire to understand complex systems, and have a background in cognitive psychology, audiology or cognitive hearing
science. Candidates with a biomedical or electrical and electronic engineering background will also be considered. You should be proficient with cognitive/audiology laboratory testing paradigms and software (e.g. Matlab, R). Knowledge or experience using fNIRS,
fMRI, or EEG would be an advantage. For more details and instructions on how to apply:

vocabulary learning in school-aged, pre-lingually deaf children with cochlear implants.
Requested expertise: Candidates should have a background in audiology, cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, cognitive science, or other relevant disciplines at the time when
the PhD contract begins. Significant experience with experimental clinical science is highly recommended, and proficiency with statistical methods and tools is a substantial asset (e.g. Matlab, Python, R, SPSS, etc.). Candidates should have an interest in
CI technology and the relevance of its fundamental working principle for the development of learning abilities and general cognitive skills in children in general. Finally, candidates should demonstrate great motivation and a desire to excel in research dissemination. For more details and instructions on how to apply:
