[AUDITORY] Research Coordinator Position, MUSC Hearing Research Program

The Hearing Research Program at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in Charleston, SC is seeking a Research Coordinator to assist with ongoing research studies that are designed to understand how brain systems support and/or fail to support speech recognition in older adults. The Research Coordinator plays an important role in this research by operating as the point of contact and assisting with data collection from participants.

 

Job Purpose: The successful candidate will be responsible for participant recruitment, screening, and informed consent. The successful candidate will also assist with data collection activities, data organization, and quality control.  Data collection activities include performing behavioral assessment and assisting with MRI data acquisition.

 

Job Duties:  Subject recruitment, consent, and screening (25%), behavioral data collection (25%), assistance with imaging data collection (15%), data coding and entry (25%), basic data processing (5%), and quality control (5%).

 

Education Requirements: The successful candidate for this position is anticipated to be pursuing a career in audiology and hearing sciences, psychology, and/or neuroscience. While applicants with Bachelors or Masters degrees are preferred, consideration will be made of excellent applicants pursuing Bachelors degrees should they have research experience and the special skills listed next.

 

Special Skills: The successful candidate will ideally have experience performing behavioral assessments of patients and/or participants (i.e., cognitive, audiologic, and speech assessments), have exceptional social skills to interact with participants, is detail-oriented, and has excellent organizational skills.
