Applications are invited for the post of Research Associate in the Vocal Communication Laboratory at the Department of Psychology.

We are delighted to announce the availability of up to 3 Research Associate positions in the Vocal Communication Laboratory, led by Professor Carolyn McGettigan. The post-holders will join a large team comprising PhD students, as well as undergraduate and graduate students and research assistants, to work on a 5-year research programme funded by The Leverhulme Trust. These posts are available from January 2018, each for 2 years in the first instance.

The research project will employ the methods of cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience and phonetics/speech science to address questions relating to the perception and production of the human voice, in particular concerning person identity and socio-emotional processes.
Successful candidates for these roles will hold a PhD in a relevant discipline, and must be able to evidence their intellectual and methodological capacity for effective leadership of a research project investigating human cognition. It is essential that candidates can demonstrate an interest in the research area of vocal communication – however, while prior experience with cognitive neuroscience techniques (e.g. fMRI, EEG) and voice research are highly desirable, they are not essential for appointment. All successful candidates should show excellent communicative skills for a research environment.

Royal Holloway offers a highly competitive rewards and benefits package including generous annual leave and training and development opportunities.  The post is based in Egham, Surrey where the College is situated in a beautiful, leafy campus near to Windsor Great Park and within commuting distance from London.

For an informal discussion about the post, please contact Professor Carolyn McGettigan, on Carolyn.McGettigan@xxxxxxxxxx.
