Position Description     

 

The Department of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology, in the School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Audiology position beginning July 1, 2017. This position is an 11-month faculty appointment.

Responsibilities include: Teaching courses in the graduate audiology program within the Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program, developing and maintaining an active research program, providing clinical supervision, and participating in shared faculty governance.

 

Preference will be given to applicants with expertise in the areas of amplification, diagnostic clinical audiology, or aural rehabilitation and prior university teaching experience.

 

The audiology program is new to the San Francisco campus. The program currently has candidacy status by the Council of Academic Accreditation (CAA) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and has developing status with the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education (ACAE).

 

The audiology program will eventually consist of five full-time academic faculty (four-tenure track and one director of clinical education) and four full-time clinical faculty. Research laboratory space and start-up funds are available for the tenure-track faculty. Currently, there are four full-time audiology faculty hired with plans to hire three additional full-time audiology faculty over the next three years. The San Francisco audiology clinic opened for patient care in October, 2014.

Basic Qualifications       

 

• Research doctorate (Ph.D.) in Audiology, Speech and Hearing Science or a closely related field is required by August 2017.

Additional Qualifications              

 

• ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (preferred)

• Possess or eligible for California Audiology License

 

Physical Requirements                

 

Requires extended periods of sitting & standing; occasional walking and infrequent bending and stooping.

Work is primarily performed in a standard classroom environment.
