I would definetely also recommend the RME interfaces, and also the MOTU ones, which are slightly cheaper but very good quality (mainly use for OSX, but they have good drivers also
for Windows).
Apogee does very good small interfaces (e.g. the ONE and the DUET). But in terms of the possibility of controlling latency and sample rate (also for "strange" rates) I'd surely follow the other's reccomendation for RME! Lorenz --
