FULL-TIME  FACULTY  POSITION  ANNOUNCEMENT

MUSIC TECHNOLOGY: TENURE TRACK, ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE  PROFESSOR

NEW YORK UNIVERSITY

MUSIC AND PERFORMING ARTS PROFESSIONS

Music and Performing Arts Professions was established at New York University in 1925 and functions both as NYU's conservatory of music and as a locus for research in music and the performing arts.  At present, 350 faculty serve 1,400 majors in B.M. through Ph.D. programs.  The music technology B.M. and M.M. programs provide rigorous training in music and technology.  The foci change over time with the field, but always include music recording, production, and mastering; scoring and sound design for film and video; and computer music synthesis, composition and performance. Steinhardt Music Technology maintains close ties with other acclaimed Steinhardt programs in music performance, music composition, and music business, as well as collaborations with units across the university, including computer science, educational technology, and interactive telecommunications.  

Responsibilities:  Teach undergraduate and graduate classes in music technology; shape and advance a research agenda involving digital signal processing, music information retrieval, and/or digital multimedia; participate in the administration of the undergraduate and graduate programs in music technology; maintain bridges to the profession; provide curricular and career advisement for undergraduate and graduate music technology students; and participate in department and school faculty activities.

Qualifications: Earned doctorate in computer music or related fields; record of or potential for scholarly publication in computer music research or related fields; dedication to teaching and mentoring music technology students; and strong administrative skills.
