Postdoctoral Position in Hearing Science

A new post-doctoral position is available in the Auditory Research Group in
Human Research and Engineering Directorate at the U.S. Army Research
Laboratory to conduct research related to auditory displays and methods of
hearing enhancement. Successful applicant should have a doctoral degree in
acoustics, psychology, audiology, hearing science, computer science or
other related discipline; be a U.S. citizen; and have or be able to obtain
a secret security clearance. Familiarity with human subject research and
programming expertise in C++, Visual Basic, or Matlab are a plus.

The Auditory Research Group carries out research activities in
psychoacoustics, speech communication, and advanced audio displays.  Basic
research topics include sound detection and recognition, spatial hearing,
auditory virtual reality, bone conduction communication, speech
communication in adverse environments, and auditory skills development. The
group has access to the world-class Tactical Environment Simulation
Facility (audio-visual CAVE environment), Hostile Environment Simulator
with sound intensity level capability exceeding 140 dB SPL, three outdoor
ranges, and several indoor acoustic chambers for hearing research.

Initial contract is for a twelve month period with salary up to $58,000
depending on experience.  Contract extension for another twelve-month
period is highly probable although not guaranteed. E-mail inquires may be
