Postdoctoral positions
Applications are invited for postdoctoral appointments in the Department
of Bioengineering at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. We are
seeking scientists for research in functional brain imaging using MEG,
EEG, fMRI and cortical electrophysiology. The research will be highly
interdisciplinary and will involve collaborations within the department
and with researchers in the School of Computing, Radiology, Neurology,
Neurosurgery, Communication Disorders and Psychiatry. Various ongoing
projects involve developing algorithms for functional imaging data
analysis, auditory signal processing and plasticity experiments,
experiments on individuals with autism, stutterring, dyslexia and
epilepsy. It is expected that candidates will participate in more than
one of these projects. Salary will depend on the qualifications and
experience of the candidates in line with NIH scales. The position is to
begin as soon as possible and is for two years with the possibility of a
third year. Applicants who are eligible for funding from external
agencies will be expected to apply for appropriate external funding.
Applicants should submit a C.V. and relevant reprints, together with a
cover letter describing current research interests and future research
goals. Applicants should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in any of the
following areas - biomedical engineering, electrical engineering,
computer science, neuroscience, cognitive science, psychology, physics
or physiology. Candidates should have strong computational skills and
will be expected to design, conduct and analyze their own experiments.
Individuals with a strong motivation to work in a collaborative and
multi-disciplinary environment are encouraged to apply. Previous
experience in functional brain imaging, statistical signal processing,
psychophysics or cognitive/systems neuroscience is expected.
