        Here is a reminder that the abstract
deadline for the Newport Beach meeting is July 28.

        THE 140-th MEETING OF THE
        ACOUSTICAL SOCIETY OF AMERICA
        NEWPORT BEACH, CA,
        3-8 DECEMBER, 2000

There will be 39 special sessions. Among them are:

Instrumentation for animal bioacoustics
Standards and animals
Acoustics - whales and dolphins

Integration of synthesis techniques and acoustical music
Theme park acoustics

Asian musical instruments and traditions
Historical brasses and related instruments

Blind deconvolution and source separation

Microphones and signal processing for automatic
     speech recognition in noisy environments.

Memorial session for Al Liberman

Functional  neuroanatomy and neurophysiology of
    spoken word recognition and speech perception.

The Newport Beach meeting incorporates Noise-Con 2000.
   It is joint with INCE.
