[AUDITORY] ICAD 2026 - International Conference on Auditory Display - July 28-31, 2026 - Save the Date

Dear AUDITORY community, Dear all,

The International Conference on Auditory Display (ICAD) 2026 will take place in a distributed format across three tightly connected hubs on July 28-31, 2026.

This shift acknowledges the need to adapt our conference practices in light of the ongoing climate crisis, and the responsibility we share in reducing the impact of long‑distance travel.

We will offer the following hubs:

- Bielefeld, Germany (Bielefeld University/CITEC, hub organizer: Thomas Hermann)

- Barcelona, Spain (ESMUC, hub organizer: Adriàn Garcia Riber)

- Troy, NY, USA (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, hub organizer: Jonas Braasch)

By coordinating keynotes, shared sessions, and cross‑hub interactions, the event will retain its international character and single stream conference style, while making participation more accessible and significantly lowering travel-related emissions. Each hub will also offer a regionally tailored program that reflects local strengths and perspectives.

This conference is – as usual – related to auditory display, sonification, sonic interaction design, multimodal data representation, spatial audio and the like.

We invite you to save the date (July 28-31, 2026) and join us as we shape a soundful community gathering – one that remains globally connected while taking meaningful steps toward more sustainable academic exchange.

Further information, including the conference theme, deadlines, submission tracks and formats, program and connected events / concerts will be announced in mid-January. Importantly, the deadline for full paper submissions is expected to be early to mid-March.

Kind regards,

Thomas Hermann
& the ICAD 2026 team
