[AUDITORY] PhD Position at University of Oldenburg, Germany : DNN-based multi-modal speech enhancement for hearing devices

The Signal Processing Division and the Collaborative Research Centre Hearing Acoustics at the University of Oldenburg in Germany are seeking to fill the position of a

Doctoral Researcher (PhD Student)
“DNN-based multi-modal speech enhancement for hearing devices”

The position is available as soon as possible for initially 3 years, with salary according to TV-L E13 (75%), corresponding to about 3.500 € per month before taxes (exact amount depending on experience and qualifications).

The successful candidate is expected to conduct research on speech enhancement algorithms for hearing devices in dynamic acoustic environments with multiple talkers, including algorithm design, implementation, and experimental validation. A central element is the use of multi-modal sensor data, e.g., electrooculography (EOG) and head orientation (accelerometer) in combination with the microphone signals from the hearing devices. Algorithm design will involve a combination of signal processing and machine learning methods.

Candidates are required to have an academic university degree (Master or equivalent) in electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, computer science, engineering physics, hearing technology or a related discipline, excellent grades, and scientific experience in at least two of the following research fields: speech/audio signal processing, biomedical signal processing, machine learning. More information about this position is available on https://uol.de/en/job/doctoral-researcher-dnn-based-multi-modal-speech-enhancement-for-hearing-devices-807

To apply for this position, please send your application (ref. SP261) including a letter of motivation with a statement of skills and research interests (max. 1 page), curriculum vitae, copies of university diplomas and transcripts, and contact details of two referees to simon.doclo@xxxxxx. The application deadline is 30.11.2025.
