Re: [AUDITORY] Audio card for mac

Hi Julia,

Apologies for the late reply. Have you looked into updating the RME firmware and double-checking if that solves the compatibility issue as claimed in the page linked below?

Here's an excerpt:
The firmware update runs on all versions of M1 or up. But as it needs the driver, and the driver is not working as long as the device firmware has not been updated, it is necessary to first update the firmware of these interfaces using the former Mac OS kernel extension driver! An update of the firmware can be performed on both Windows or Mac computers, older computers (e.g. your previous computer) are also compatible.

I'd be interested to know if this worked for you.

Thank you,
Gabriele.

Subject: [AUDITORY] Audio card for mac

Hello all,

I’m replacing my ancient lab computers. Previously I used Fireface sound cards but they are not compatible with my new iMacs and my budget is somewhat limited. Does anyone have any recommendations for high quality sound cards that will work with Experiment Builder and Matlab? Will the onboard sound card be sufficient for psychoacoustic research? My computer specs are: iMac with Retina 4.5K display: Apple M4 chip with 8-core CPU and 8-core GPU, 16GB, 512GB SSD

Thanks,

Julia
