Dear List,
We’re hiring a Research Fellow/Postdoc to join our new ESRC research grant team, "Quantifying Phonetic Input in First- and Second-language Speech Learning". The team is led by Prof Paul Iverson (grant holder) and includes Dr Bronwen Evans (UCL), Dr Kathleen McCarthy (QMUL) & Dr Lin Wang (QMUL).
The project will develop a new microphone-array wearable audio recorder to measure acoustic-phonetic input to babies and adults, then linking this input to the development of speech perception as assessed by EEG. More details in the UKRI project summary: https://gtr.ukri.org/projects?ref=ES%2FZ503630%2F1
The post is primarily focused on the development of the recorder, creating AI techniques to examine input, and open-source dissemination of the code. It will also involve EEG testing and analysis, including infant testing.
The position is initially for 2 yrs: start date is Feb 2025. Closing date: 11th January 2025.
All details at this link.
We are able to consider PhD students who will have submitted their thesis by the start date, but do not yet have their PhD in hand, i.e., have not yet completed their viva.
