Dear Colleagues,
The Audio Information Research (AIR) lab in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Rochester is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to co-lead a project on speech anonymization, voice conversion, and speech synthesis. This researcher will co-supervise a few PhD students on this project and on speech processing research in general. The project will focus on algorithm design but will also coordinate with collaborators on transferring such algorithms into executable software. Research results will be published at top journals and conferences in the speech processing area.
At the AIR lab, we focus on computer audition research, where music information retrieval, speech processing and general sound modeling are the three pillars. We also study the connections between computer audition and computer vision, natural language processing, computational neuroscience, and healthcare applications. The postdoctoral researcher will have the opportunity to collaborate on projects beyond speech processing.
The University of Rochester is a private, Tier I research university in Rochester, New York. The ECE department is home to more than 85 full-time PhD students, 70 MS students, and BS programs in ECE and in AME. The University of Rochester consistently ranks among the top 30 institutions, both public and private, in federal funding for research and development. The University is at the heart of the high-tech Finger Lakes Region of New York State, providing many opportunities for industry collaboration as well as a high quality of life. The greater Rochester area is home to over a million people, including 80,000 students who attend eight colleges and universities.
The salary is $75,000 plus fringe benefits. An annual increase of 3% is expected. This position is expected to start ASAP and we will review applications on a rolling basis. We prefer candidates who can work for at least two years, but due to our university’s regulation, the first term will be one year and it will be renewable after that.
Candidates should have a PhD in electrical and computer engineering, computer science, or related fields. They should have good experience and a strong publication record in speech processing, and ideally, speech synthesis and voice conversion. They should also demonstrate excellent leadership, communication and programming skills.
To apply, please send a CV, a cover letter and contact information for two referees to Dr. Zhiyao Duan at zhiyao.duan@xxxxxxxxxxxxx. For any questions, please contact Dr. Duan as well. Please feel free to forward this email to colleagues and friends who might be interested.
Thank you!
