[AUDITORY] RA position - Groh lab - Duke University review starts July 15

Dear Colleagues,

Please circulate this ad to any interested parties - recent college graduates who are looking for their next steps before graduate or medical school would be ideal.

Associate in Research
Neuroscience of SPACE Lab / Dr. Jennifer Groh
Duke University Department of Psychology and Neuroscience

The Neuroscience of SPACE Laboratory (https://people.duke.edu/~jmgroh/at Duke University seeks a full time Associate in Research to join the lab. The Neuroscience of SPACE Lab’s research involves visual, auditory, and multisensory processing in the brain using neurophysiological and computational/statistical techniques.

Job duties include assisting in animal care involving macaques (handling, training, overseeing health status) and administrative responsibilities (ordering supplies, overseeing compliance with IACUC regulations, backing up computers). Applicants with an interest in participating in research concerning how the brain represents/computes information related to visual and auditory space will be a good fit for this position.

A completed a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience, biology, psychology or related quantitative field is required prior to the start date (ideally August/September 2024). Previous experience working with a mammalian species in a laboratory setting is a plus.

The ideal candidate will have training in the domain of neuroscience/psychology as well as some coursework in a computational/quantitative subject area (such as statistics, computer science, engineering, physics, or math), and be willing to make a 2+ year commitment to the position. Previous holders of this position have participated actively in the development of research projects in the laboratory and have gone on to graduate school in neuroscience.

For more on our research you can read our recent work on neural multiplexing (Groh et al TiCS 2024 - https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1364661324001037?via%3Dihub) and eye movement-related eardrum oscillations (Lovich et al PNAS 2023 - https://www.pnas.org/doi/abs/10.1073/pnas.2303562120)

I plan to start reviewing applications July 15 and will continue until the position is filled - aiming for a start date in Aug or Sept
