The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) in the College of Health and Behavioral Studies (CHBS) at James Madison University (JMU) seeks a tenure-track faculty member at the rank of Assistant
Professor. All areas of expertise in hearing science, audiology, auditory neuroscience, and related fields will be considered.
The qualified candidate will join a thriving and collegial academic unit with 17 full-time faculty and six part-time faculty with additional adjunct and clinical educators as needed. The department serves an average of 350 undergraduate majors and 125 graduate
students across multiple degree-granting academic programs (www.jmu.edu/chbs/csd/index.shtml), including
a dynamic Ph.D. program. We have a shared vision to be recognized for bridging science and clinical practice. We are achieving this vision through our innovative programming, stellar faculty, wide range of research, excellent teaching, research labs, and clinical
facilities. The department offers ample laboratory spaces including a designated lab for conducting animal research, and has
state-of-the-art audiology and speech-language pathology clinics with rich community outreach. U.S News & World Report has consistently ranked the JMU graduate programs in Audiology and SLP among the
top programs in the United States.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities for the position include teaching, scholarship and professional, community, and/or university service. The qualified candidate will teach courses in the Ph.D., Au.D., and/or undergraduate programs commensurate with the experience.
Qualifications:
• A Ph.D. (or equivalent research doctorate) in Hearing Science, Audiology, Neuroscience, or
related field.
• Demonstrate potential for independent scholarship.
• Demonstrate potential for quality teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Demonstrate potential to serve the department, college, university, and/or community.
• Experience with formal or informal mentoring of students.
• Evidence of commitment to access, inclusion, and diversity.
• ASHA certification and eligibility for state licensure are not required.
