[AUDITORY] Job Advert - on behalf of Dr Gabriel Dumy (Kolibri)

Dear list members,

Please see below a job advert by Kolibri for those who are interested. Note that I am not affiliated with Kolibri and only posting here on the company’s behalf due to the specialist acoustics/ audio-DSP nature of the job.

Company: Kolibri France https://www.kolibrilab.com

Discipline: Acoustic Engineering applied to cell cultures

Location: Paris
Position: Full time (French CDI)

Start Date: as soon as possible

Job Description:

Research and development

  • Develop, test, and implement acoustic piezoelectric apparatuses generating the acoustic waves exploited within Kolibri’s bioprocesses.
  • Work hand in hand with the mechanical and electrical team to improve the integration of acoustic transducers in Kolibri’s prototypes

Modelling and simulations

  • Fully model and document the acoustic wave propagation and stabilization in current prototypes, and improve them into future prototypes and applications, especially along the scaling of these prototypes
  • Conduct numerical simulations to assist with prototyping development

Experimental design

  • Plan and design in collaboration with the bioprocess team experiments to study the effects of acoustic forces on cells, plasmids and viral production
  • Analyse results to draw meaningful conclusions
  • Troubleshoot experimental setups and optimize processes to achieve desired outcomes

Innovation

  • Showing 10x increase in yield and 50x reduction in production costs, Kolibri’s patented acoustic-based bioreactors allow partners in drug development unlock patient access to cell and gene therapies. Being cell-agnostic and scalable, Kolibri’s process has significant potential across a range of high-value biologics - or in the cellular agriculture space more broadly.
  • Stay updated on the latest developments and breakthroughs in the field of acoustic cell manipulation
  • Seek opportunities for innovation and propose new research directions or applications
  • Build upon the company IP strategy in collaboration with Kolibri’s selected firm and CTO through for example patent filings

Qualifications:

  • A PhD or higher education degree in acoustic signal generation and acoustic propagation, acoustophoresis, or a closely related field
  • Proven experience (minimum of 3 years) in experiment building, prototyping, implementation of acoustic hardware into lab/industrial environment
  • Strong experimental skills, data analysis proficiency and the ability to troubleshoot and adapt to evolving challenges.
  • Independent and problem-solving mindset
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • A strong publication record and the ability to contribute to scientific advancements in the field
  • Interest in biotechnology/health & pharma domains

Nice to haves:

  • Proficiency in acoustic manipulation principles, including knowledge of acoustic, transducers, signal generation, processing or related technologies
  • Proven experience with acoustics transducers, signal generation and processing
  • Understanding of finite elements numerical methods for acoustic propagation and analysis
  • Experience with process control and automation
  • Experience in applying acoustic waves to microorganisms, especially to mammalian cells
