[AUDITORY] Audition scientists on Mastodon

Dear list,

Following up on Samuel's email regarding the new landscape of social media for science communication, I would like to mention Mastodon as another option worth exploring.

As you may know, Mastodon is a nonprofit, decentralized social network that otherwise functions much like Twitter. In my experience, the only challenge when joining Mastodon is to find and connect with fellow scientists in your field, or more broadly, individuals who share your interests. To address this, I have set up a list of audition scientists on Mastodon (currently empty), which offers an easy way to follow many audition-related accounts at once.

If you are already on Mastodon and want to be added the list, please fill out this form, or send me an email. If you are considering joining Mastodon, feel free to use this tool to follow some or all of the scientists here. Other lists of academics on mastodon are also available here.

Best regards,

Léo

Dear AUDITORY, if you enjoyed science twitter until it fell apart, and would like to join the many people who have moved to bluesky, Lisa Fazio and I have been pooling invite codes and are making them available to anyone in the cogsci community. Email me if you would like a code.

At the moment we have 38 available, and when we run out we just keep a waiting list until more invites come in. We've been receiving a few donations per day over the last few weeks so they tend to be replenished quickly.

best
Sam
