[AUDITORY] Postdoc - rhythm perception research

Dear List,

Dr. Mimi Kao and I have an NIH R01-funded postdoc position to study auditory-motor interactions during rhythm perception in a small animal model (the songbird).

The position is in Dr. Kao's songbird neurobiology lab in the Biology Dept. at Tufts University, and the postdoc would work closely with both of us.

Candidates should have experience in neurophysiology and animal behavior as well as excellent experimental design, analytical, and communication skills.  Programming skills (including python and MATLAB) and prior bioacoustics experience are preferred.

A project summary is here and two relevant publications are:

Rouse, Patel, & Kao, (2021). Vocal learning and flexible rhythm pattern perception are linked: Evidence from songbirds. PNAS https://www.pnas.org/doi/abs/10.1073/pnas.2026130118

Rouse, Patel, Wainapel, & Kao (2023). Sex differences in vocal learning ability in songbirds are linked with differences in flexible rhythm pattern perception. Animal Behaviour  https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0003347223001112

If interested, please send a CV and short bio to Mimi Kao (mimi.kao@xxxxxxxxx) or me (a.patel@xxxxxxxxx).

Regards,
Ani Patel
