Applications are
invited for a funded Postdoctoral Fellowship in Auditory Neuroscience in the Cognitive Aging and Auditory Neuroscience Laboratory (CAANLab; http://www.caanlab.ca), under the supervision of Dr. Benjamin
Zendel. The CAANLab is located in the
Faculty of Medicine at Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s,
Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada.
Applicants must
have a doctoral degree in psychology, neuroscience, biology, genetics, music,
computer science, audiology, or another related field by the start date (or
close to completion). Experience with
auditory research, cognitive psychology collecting and analyzing neuroimaging
(particularly EEG) or genetic data, music theory, neuroscience, statistics, or
machine learning will be considered assets.
The successful
candidate will have the opportunity to work on both existing projects based on
their expertise and to develop their own research projects. Current lines of
research in the lab include: exploring the impact of music training on auditory
and cognitive abilities, music perception (particularly in older adults),
genetics of musicality, machine learning analysis of EEG data, and age-related
hearing loss. The CAANLab is well equipped to conduct auditory cognitive research. The lab houses a 128-channel Biosemi EEG
system with the ability to record FFR/ABRs in a double walled sound booth. Additionally, we have an in-lab piano, virtual
reality system, and clinical-grade audiometer.
The lab is part of the new Human Neuroscience Centre at Memorial
University.
The position is
funded, and the salary will be negotiated based on experience. The position is
for an initial term of two years, and may be renewed. Start-date is as soon as possible. Extended
health benefits, and funds for conference travel will also be made available to
the successful candidate.
