The RESEARCH AUDIOLOGIST will be involved in clinical research in the Audiology department, and is responsible for coordinating study subjects and conducting related research.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Schedule and coordinate study subjects as research dictates
Conduct data collection related to the primary clinical studies occurring in the Audiology Department
Provide data analysis of primary research
Assist student led research projects
Submit applications for funding of independent or mentored research pertaining to related and complimentary Audiology research areas
Optionally provide direct clinical service in the Audiology and Hearing Rehabilitation Center

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Doctor of Audiology or equivalent and Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology (CCC-A) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), Massachusetts license to practice Audiology.

The POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS are for two years in the lab of Dr. Julie Arenberg with a focus cochlear implant psychophysics, physiology, and programming in children and adults. We study hearing and speech perception in children and adults, many of whom have cochlear implants. We also measure evoked potentials and develop computational models of the interface between cochlear implants and the target auditory neurons. We compare physiological and perceptual measures between early implanted children and post-linguistically deafened adults. Our primary goal is to better understand the auditory system as it has likely been altered by etiology, experience and the cochlear implant itself. We integrate underlying neuroscience principles with the practice of clinical audiology.

We are seeking highly motivated candidates who recently graduated with a PhD in hearing science, audiology, neuroscience, or biomedical engineering. The candidate should have strong communication skills, some programming experience and the ability to work in a team.  The fellow will have an appointment at Massachusetts Eye and Ear (MEE) and Harvard Medical School (HMS). MEE and HMS provide rich intellectual and scientific environments and the necessary infrastructure to carry out the proposed research. Training and career development are a priority.

Interested applicants should email their CV, names of 3 references and cover letter to Julie_Arenberg@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
