[AUDITORY] Job offer at Philipps-University Marburg / Research Training Group: Junior Research Group Leader

Dear Colleagues,

we are very excited to announce the call for a Junior Research Group Leader within the field of Empirical and/or Experimental Linguistics at the Philipps-University Marburg (Germany).

The research group is affiliated with the Research Training Group (RTG) “Dynamics and stability of
linguistic representations”. The RTG is a structured program for Ph.D.-students and young researchers.
The scientific goal of the group is to study the mental bases of linguistic units, their usage, acquisition,
development and change. To this end, several methodological perspectives are taken, e.g., from Psy-
cho or Neurolinguistics, Dialectology, Clinical Linguistics, Historical Linguistics and Pragmatics. In this
environment, the research group is expected to follow their own research agenda from either a psycho,
neuro or sociolinguistic perspective. The group is equipped with an attractive start-up package, in-
cluding a position for a doctoral student (65 % position, pay grade 13 of the Hesse collective agree-
ment), a yearly budget and access to central services of the Philipps-University.
We are looking for a highly qualified person with international experience. We offer to strengthen your
academic profile by developing an internationally visible research program, building on your excellent
Ph.D. in one of the RTG-related disciplines. We expect an active contribution to the linguistic research
activities in Marburg by sharing your expertise in methods of empirical and/or experimental linguistics.
While we do not expect a concrete specialization, the focus should lie within Psycho or Neurolinguis-
tics, experimental Sociolinguistics or empirical-experimental fieldwork. We expect the willingness to
contribute to the qualification program of the RTG. Knowledge of statistics with possible software
specialization in R, Python or Matlab is desired. The research group leader has access to personal
mentoring and coaching, e.g., offered by the Young Faculty Network. The position also allows teaching
activity up to 2 hours (per week during a semester).
Further questions will be answered by Prof. Hanna Fischer (hanna.fischer@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx).
We support women and strongly encourage them to apply. In areas where women are underrepre-
sented, female applicants will be preferred in case of equal qualifications. Applicants with children
are welcome — the Philipps-University is certified as a family-friendly university. A reduction of work-
ing time is possible. Applicants with a disability as described in SGB IX (§ 2 Abs. 2, 3) will be preferred
in case of equal qualifications. Application and interview costs can not be refunded.

The position is for a limited period of 3 years, with the possibility of extension, provided the availability of funding
starting on 01.09.2022. The position is full-time with salary and benefits commensurate with a public
service position in the state of Hessen, Germany (TV-H E 14). The position includes a 65%-Ph.D.-position to be filled until Dec. 31st, 2022 and start-up funding matched to the RTG’s funding within a given project. For more information, consult these webpages:

posal (up to 3 pages). Documents have to be sent with the reference number fb09-0017-nwgl-

We are looking forward to receiving interesting and compelling applications!
