[AUDITORY] Postdoctoral and research assistant positions at OHSU

Both postdoctoral fellowship and research assistant positions are available at the Oregon Hearing Research Center at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, Oregon.

You will be working with a team of computational modeling experts, human subject researchers, and basic lab scientists on an exciting new NIH R01 project developing a diagnostic assay for cochlear deafferentation (i.e., hidden hearing loss) in human subjects.

As part of this team, you will be working on a series of physiological and histological experiments in mouse to test and refine the diagnostic assays. Skills include performing auditory physiological assays (i.e., ABRs and DPOAEs), survival surgery, cochlear whole mount dissection, immunohistochemistry, and confocal imaging. Individuals who hold a master’s degree or a Ph.D. with significant animal physiology, surgical, and immunohistochemistry experience are especially qualified to apply. Applicants must be comfortable working with mice and excellent colony and data-management skills are a plus.

The Oregon Hearing Research Center is part of the Department of Otolaryngology at the Oregon Health & Science University and is a short walk to the National Center for Rehabilitative Auditory Research. Together, these departments form one of the largest collections of auditory scientists with a diverse set of interests ranging from basic to clinical research on both animal and human subjects. Portland, Oregon is known for its excellent outdoor opportunities. We are only 1.5 hours away from ocean beaches to the west and 1.5 hours away from North America's only year-round ski resort to the east.
