[AUDITORY] AAVAA_DSP Audio Algorithm Engineers

Dear AuditoryList,

We are looking for DSP Audio Algorithm Engineers to work on developing demonstrations for real-time audio enhancement applications. With AAVAA, you will be involved in building a unique listening device that allows everyone to hear what matters by processing their surrounding sounds based on input from their brain and biosignals. Our goal is to give people control of their auditory environment, enhance the sounds they want to hear, and suppress distracting noise.

The position is available as early as November 15, 2020. Remote working solutions are possible, and physical presence at AAVAA offices will be possible as the COVID-19 situation evolves.

The position is for full-time candidates, or Postdoctoral candidates residing in Canada or Graduate students currently enrolled in a Canadian university. University candidates will be supported in part by Mitacs. AAVAA is a Montreal start-up dedicated to increasing diversity in technology; therefore, candidates of all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

We are looking for problem solvers who are meticulous and have a team player spirit. Please see below to ensure you have experience in the requested areas.

Required experience:

• Speech enhancement, such as noise reduction, acoustic echo cancellation, gain control, microphone arrays, beamforming, or source separation

• Advanced digital signal processing with experience in time series data analysis

• Development and debugging of real-time audio system software

• Development of embedded DSPs and ARM cores

• Familiarity with various DSP platforms and the trade-offs of embedded implementations

• Proficient in C++, C, Python, and Matlab

• Experience in acoustics and consumer audio electrical engineering architecture

Good to have:

• Some knowledge of machine learning and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, Scikit)

• Industrial hardware design of hearing aids or Bluetooth audio devices

• Automatic speech recognition systems

• Knowledge of using cloud platforms

• Github

Interested candidates should send a cover letter (max. 2 pages), a CV or resume, and contact information for 2 references to info@xxxxxxxxxxxx
