The College of Applied Health Sciences (AHS) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is holding its annual Ph.D. Recruitment Day on Friday, October 30 from 10:00am – 1:30pm CST via Zoom (register at: https://ahs.illinois.edu/phd-day-2020). Please attend to learn more about the exciting Ph.D. degree in Speech and Hearing Science. The recruitment day will include helpful information about admissions, financial aid, and career prospects. You will also hear from current doctoral students about their reasons for choosing AHS and their experiences of being in a doctoral program. In addition, you will visit your program of choice to learn specifics about the application process and speak with faculty concerning their research. The Department of Speech and Hearing Science (https://ahs.illinois.edu/speech-&-hearing-science) offers the Ph.D. in Speech and Hearing Science, a research-oriented degree that prepares students for academic research careers in the field of communication sciences and its disorders. The PhD program is rigorous in terms of expectations but flexible in terms of prerequisites, thereby allowing students to take advantage of the wide variety of courses and research labs available at the university in order to build their own individual expertise. In addition to completing an individualized program of coursework and research experiences, students will develop the necessary skills to review research, develop research questions, design studies, present at conferences, submit papers, and teach courses. Our goal is to prepare visionary leaders in translational research to fill a variety of influential career positions in communication sciences and its disorders, including academic appointments at research-intensive universities, research institutions, public agencies, and clinical research settings.---
