[AUDITORY] Socio-technical assemblages of AI Listening machines

Dear all,

Sharing with you all here a recent journal article of mine that addresses the tensions between the science and technologies of listening, that take the form of socio-technical assemblages.
http://doi.org/10.7238/a.v0i26.3362

The CASA enabled ASR smart agents in their current rudimentary automaton  form, provide a unique object of study, to discuss not only a corporeal history (that includes the historic institutionalization of the Deaf/ and concepts of 'Deaf Gain'/rather than 'Hearing Loss'), but also delves into technology policy implications.

I welcome your comments and experiences, and any thoughts that the article might echo. Indeed the auditory field has always involved researchers and practitioners who bridge scientific, medical, technological as well as creative computation & artistic inquiries into the mechanisms of audition and listening machines.

Assemblages for Art, Technology and Innovation"
