[AUDITORY] Auditory Scientists of Color

Dear Auditory Science Community,

I am a vision scientist who teaches Introduction to Sensation and 
Perception, which is about one third audition in our implementation. One 
request that some of us have received of late, from students fighting 
for social justice, is to acknowledge scientists from under-represented 
groups, particularly BIPOC folks, in the  classes we teach. So, I wonder:

Could we together gather a list of scientific figures from the field's 
past who were self-acknowledged members of under-represented groups? We 
could then use this resource to update our courses. Or perhaps some 
resources exists already?  Please forward anything you think would help, 
and I will happily share results.

PS The emphasis is the field's past here; please check with currently 
practicing scientists if they are OK being listed.

PPS "Race" is emphasized here over gender, ableness, and other important 
factors, in part because of the current moment.

PPPS And of course there are many other things we can and should be 
doing to increase diversity and justice in our fields and the world.
