Professor Lawrence Rosenblum at the University of California, Riverside (UCR) is currently looking for graduate students for his Riverside Audiovisual Speech and Audition Laboratory (RASAL). Two research programs are conducted in RASAL. Research on audiovisual speech perception examines: the integration of audio and visual (lipread) speech; the visual information for lipreading; the relationship between face and voice information; inadvertent imitation of audio and visual speech; and cross modal learning of speech and speaker perception. Research on general auditory perception examines: auditory affordances; auditory distance perception; human echolocation; and perception of approaching sound sources including hybrid cars. The UCR Department of Psychology has facilities to conduct research using advanced behavioral, EEG, and fMRI methodologies. Students accepted into the UCR Department of Psychology PhD graduate program are guaranteed five years of financial support through fellowships, research assistantships, and/or teaching assistantships.
