The Department of Psychology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in neuroscience to begin Fall, 2020. The ideal candidate would have a research program in cognitive neuroscience, conducting research using human subjects and/or animal models, but any strong neuroscientist will be fully considered. Candidates should have a strong basic or translational neuroscience research background.  The successful applicant would be expected to add to the university’s growing neuroscience strength by mentoring and teaching graduate and undergraduate students, as well as contributing to planned expansions of the neuroscience curriculum across campus.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field, with significant postdoctoral experience. Candidates must display evidence of strong scholarly work, and existing or potential for extramural funding. Further, we are seeking an individual who is committed to fostering an environment in which faculty, staff, and students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive. The Department offers a B.A. in psychology.  The Department has 30 full-time faculty members with an APA-accredited clinical Ph.D. program and an experimental Ph.D. program with cognitive, developmental, neuroscience, and quantitative/experimental areas of study. (https://www.unlv.edu/psychology/graduateprograms/phd-experimental-faculty).

This position requires a Ph.D. in Psychology or related discipline from a regionally accredited college or university and experience as noted above. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.

Submit a letter of interest, a detailed resume listing qualifications and experience, and the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of at least three professional references who may be contacted. Applicants should fully describe their qualifications and experience, with specific reference to each of the minimum and preferred qualifications because this is the information on which the initial review of materials will be based.

Although this position will remain open until filled, review of candidates’ materials will begin on January 13, 2020, and best consideration will be gained for materials submitted prior to that date. Materials should be addressed to Joel Snyder, Search Committee Chair, and are to be submitted online as we do not accept emailed materials.
