This is a full time, Postdoctoral Associate position in the Department of Otolaryngology at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, in Aurora, CO. The fellow will report to Dr. Nathaniel Greene and will work in his research group. The position will focus on understanding the mechanics of alternate sound transmission pathways to the inner ear, and the consequences of such noise exposures on hearing.

Examples Of Work Performed 

  • Development and implementation of methods including measurements of middle and inner ear mechanics for noise and vibration exposures in cadaveric specimens.
  • Development and implementation of noise exposure protocols in animals.
  • Conduct experiments, collect and analyze data.
  • Disseminate results at conferences.
  • Prepare manuscripts for publication. 

The role offers substantial opportunities for professional growth including experimental design and implementation, data collection and analysis, publication and dissemination of results, as well as mentoring of trainees and opportunities for collaboration with audiologists, residents and attending in the Department of Otolaryngology, as well as industry partners. The successful candidate will show an interest in the mechanics and physiology of the auditory and vesicular systems.

 

Salary and Benefits:

The hiring salary is negotiable and commensurate with skills and experience.  This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications

 Minimum qualifications: 

  • PhD in Neuroscience, Engineering, or related field
  • Proven ability to work independently within a research lab

Preferred qualifications:

  • Programming (MATLAB/Python) and statistical analysis experience
  • Experience with middle and inner ear mechanics in human or animal models
  • Experience with physiological and histological assessments of neural function, particularly in the auditory system.

The ideal candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and a proven ability to work independently within a research lab. Evidence of a strong commitment to research from presentations, publications, and letters of reference is required. Ambition and independence of thought and work are highly encouraged.
