[AUDITORY] BabyLab: 2 research positions: MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour & Development, Sydney



The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development at Western Sydney University is recruiting two positions for BabyLab:
 
1. Ref 3276/19 Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow in Infant Studies; and 
2. Ref 3537/19 Associate Professor/ Professor in Infant Studies, BabyLab Leader.
 
1.   Ref 3276/19 Research Fellow/Senior Research Fellow in Infant Studies, MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development
The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development is seeking to appoint an outstanding and innovative scholar to complement and strengthen our research in Infant Studies. The successful Researcher (Level B) or Senior Researcher (Level C) will complement existing and developing research associated with the BabyLab and be a member of a strong research team. The fellow’s research will address local and national research priorities and may include forging new collaborative partnerships with external organisations, schools, early learning and healthcare providers. 

The MARCS BabyLab is a core research facility within the Speech & Language research program within the Institute. BabyLab personnel include the Institute and School-based Academic Researchers, Research Officers/Assistants, Higher Degree Research Students and Interns. The BabyLab is a powerful and effective agent for WSU and the Institute’s engagement with the community, and for translation of research into community and professional education. BabyLabs are located on the Bankstown, Kingswood and Westmead Campuses. 

The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development is an interdisciplinary research institute within Western Sydney University. The vision for the Institute is to optimise human interaction, and wellbeing across lifespan. We strive to solve the problems that matter most through the themes: sensing and perceiving, interacting with each other, and technologies for humans. Researchers in MARCS come from many disciplines including cognitive science, developmental psychology, language science, music science, cognitive neuroscience, and biomedical, electrical, electronic and software engineering. The Institute consists of three Research Areas - the International Centre for Neuromorphic Systems, Brain Sciences (including Speech and Language, Multisensory Communication and Music Cognition and Action research programs) and Biomedical and Human Technologies (including Biomedical Engineering and Human Machine Interaction research programs).

This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 3 years based at our Bankstown Campus.
Remuneration Package: Academic Level B $120,440 to $142,118 p.a. (comprising salary $101,773 to 120,175 p.a., plus 17% Superannuation and Leave Loading) Academic Level C $146,420 to $167,961 p.a. (comprising salary $123,852 to $142,263 p.a., plus 17% Superannuation and Leave Loading)

2.   Ref 3537/19 Associate Professor/ Professor in Infant Studies, BabyLab Leader, MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour & Development

The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development is an interdisciplinary research institute of Western Sydney University. Within the Institute is the MARCS BabyLab - a core research facility hosting personnel from within the Institute and associated Schools, with facilities located on the Bankstown, Kingswood and Westmead Campuses. BabyLab is home to more than a dozen researchers and builds on a foundation of research established at Western by research leaders Professors Denis Burnham, Anne Cutler, and Catherine Best. 

We are seeking a distinguished scholar to lead high-quality research and a team of researchers and students in Infant Studies, and ensuring that the BabyLab is positioned nationally and globally for innovative and high-impact research. The position will work with the Institute Director and Dean of School to address local and national research priorities including forging new collaborative partnerships with external organisations, schools, early learning and healthcare providers. 

The Associate Professor/Professor in Infant Studies/BabyLab Leader would hold an ongoing (tenured) joint position within the School of Education and the MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development.

Remuneration Package: 
Academic Level D $175,136 to $192,359 p.a. (comprising Salary $148,395 to $163,116 p.a., plus 17% Superannuation, plus Leave Loading)
Academic Level E $223,946 to $231,739 p.a. (comprising Salary $190,113 to $196,774 p.a., plus 17% Superannuation, plus Leave Loading)
