Dear List, Thank you to those who sent more papers for the list. It has been updated again. I was glad to hear from several people that they found the list useful. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17nKgAnFeTdQ0X83lCfAnEmSDXAzN4gtIYjtof372Ky0/edit?usp=sharing To recap, to be included in this list a study had to include ERP analysis of unexpected notes in: 1.
Novel melodies, presented without repetition during the experiment 2.
Healthy normal adult or children participants 3.
Unimodal auditory presentation (e.g., not in melodies presented along with visual notation)
Please note: some of the studies used out-of-tune as well as out-of-key targets. Only target pitches that were either in-key or out-of-key are included in this table. Regards, Ani Patel From: Patel, Aniruddh D. Dear List, Many thanks to those who responded to my email asking about ERP studies of melodic expectation. Thanks to your input we added some studies to our list. Here is a link to a spreadsheet with the list (created by my grad student Allison
Fogel): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17nKgAnFeTdQ0X83lCfAnEmSDXAzN4gtIYjtof372Ky0/edit?usp=sharing To be included in this list, a study had to include ERP analysis of unexpected notes in: 1.

If our list is missing any studies that meet our criteria, please accept our apologies and let us know so we can add them to the list. Thanks very much for your input. Ani Patel |
