[AUDITORY] Postdoc position, BRAIN initiative

Postdoctoral Position: All optical interrogation of neural coding and decision making

A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Patrick Kanold at the University of Maryland. The laboratory studies the function, development, and plasticity of the auditory cortex (for more information see http://www.kanold.org). We now want to causally link population activity in the auditory cortex and behavioral performance.

This project will provide such links by using patterned stimulation of targeted and characterized neuronal populations. The aim is to use in vivo 2-photon Ca2+-imaging to characterize specific cell populations in behaving mice and manipulate these populations with in vivo holographic 2-photon optogenetic stimulation to bias and drive behavioral responses.

The project is part of a NIH BRAIN initiative U19 effort and involves a tight collaboration between experimentalists, physicists, and theorists. The ideal candidate will have a PhD in neuroscience, engineering, or related discipline, a background in systems neuroscience, and enjoy being part of a multidisciplinary team. Special considerations are given to applicants with training in imaging, in vivo physiology, computational approaches, and programming skills.

Qualified individuals should send a copy of curriculum vitae and names of three references to pkanold@xxxxxxx.
