Re: [AUDITORY] [Non-DoD Source] Re: Moving the AUDITORY list? (UNCLASSIFIED)

I may be in the minority, but I tend to agree with Roy Patterson. I think that unless someone is willing to take on the work of migrating a list, I'd vote for the simplest, most automated solution. I'm not so concerned with privacy - I'd be posting on a public forum, one that has previously been searchable using google. I'm more concerned with usability and survivability. Our list admin has made a huge contribution of his time to oversee this forum. It makes sense to choose a platform that is familiar and easy to use. Those who have administered lists on google groups all seem to like it. That is a solid plus. There are other options, and I don't think that they can be ruled out just yet, but I would support any decision made by Dan Ellis. Thanks for your service!
A.

Can you give the reasons that support this option?

More weight has been given that can I can extract from this your mail.
Alternatives have been suggested, criticism has been expressed (to which you have no replies so far), and people have even offered to host/admin the list.

Have you managed mailing lists yourself? Can you back up your last point here?
I would it rephrase as follows. We have every reasong to believe that moving the list to a google product involves considerable risks. Namely to the freedom of information and to our privacy. This is 2018, these things matter now.
