PostDoc position at Carl von Ossietzky University of Oldenburg, Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics, Germany

The Acoustics Group at the Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics, University of Oldenburg, Germany, seeks a motivated

PostDoc (full time TV-L 13 position, starting preferably 01.10.2018, until 30.06.2022)

in the field of Virtual Acoustics. The position is suitable for part-timework.

This project conducts research in sound reproduction in none-optimal acoustical environments. In particular, the goal will be to adapt the audio reproduction to optimize audio and speech reproduction incorporating knowledge about the reproduction environment. The optimization will be with regard to perceptual relevant criteria relating to spatial perception and speech perception.

The project is funded by the newly established DFG collaborative research centre CRC1330 Hearing Acoustics, which aims at a better understanding of human acoustic communication and is a long-term collaboration of researchers from Oldenburg, Aachen and Munich.

The Acoustics group is part of the Department of Medical Physics and Acoustics and offers an international scientific environment as well as access to world-class research facilities. For more information about the group and the department see http://www.uni-oldenburg.de/en/acoustics/ and https://www.uni-oldenburg.de/en/mediphysics-acoustics/.

Applicants for the position must hold a doctoral degree and have a background in hearing technology & audiology, physics, engineering, or a related discipline. Furthermore, applicants must have a solid background in at least one of the following fields: auditory (spatial) perception, virtual acoustics, or speech and audio processing. A strong interest in interdisciplinary application-oriented work, familiarity with scientific tools and programming languages such as MATLAB, good spoken and written English language skills, and at least some basic German language skills (after an initial period of 6 months) are expected. Applicants will be offered the opportunity to work on their habilitation.

The University of Oldenburg is dedicated to increase the percentage of female employees in the field of science. Therefore, female candidates are strongly encouraged to apply. In accordance to § 21 Section 3 NHG, female candidates with equal qualifications will be preferentially considered. Applicants with disabilities will be given preference in case of equal qualification.
