Grade 8 (Lecturer), full-time salary £42,304 - £49,904 per annum
Grade 9 (Senior Lecturer), full-time salary £54,240 - £58,978 per annum

The Ear Institute at University College London (UCL) is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Audiology to advance audiological research and teaching. The Ear Institute is a leading multi-disciplinary centre dedicated to understanding the mechanisms of hearing and the causes of deafness and other hearing problems. Closely linked with the Royal National Throat, Nose and Ear Hospital (RNTNEH) and situated within one of the strongest neuroscience communities in the world at UCL, the Ear Institute offers an exceptional environment for audiological research and teaching.
The post holder will work closely with research and teaching staff at the Ear Institute and clinicians at the RNTNEH and other NHS hospitals to deliver innovative audiological research and teaching. Responsibilities of the post include successful advancement of an audiological research programme supported by external grant funding; leadership of clinical audiology programmes as a Module Coordinator and/or Programme Director; supervision of postgraduate student research projects at PhD, MRes and MSc levels; and provision of pastoral and tutorial support to students. This is a full-time role, but we may consider a part-time arrangement (0.8FTE) for candidates who wish to maintain 0.2FTE of existing clinical duties.
The ideal candidate will have an in-depth understanding of current theoretical issues in audiology and audiological practice worldwide, and an extensive knowledge of diagnostic audiology assessment and rehabilitation. Essential requirements of the role include significant clinical experience in the NHS or other healthcare sector, along with a strong record of disseminating research and/or teaching via clinical groups, conference presentations and high-quality publications in journals.
The successful candidate will have a recognised postgraduate qualification (e.g. PhD) in audiology or a related discipline, and an excellent international reputation in audiology or hearing science. Evidence of leadership in the design and delivery of CPD materials, experience of teaching and assessment within an HEI setting, and experience of delivering teaching using innovative methods (including distance learning) would be desirable.
