***Sorry for cross-posting*** This is a final email about the 16th Rhythm Production and Perception Workshop (RPPW 2017). The 16th RPPW will be held at the Digital Media Technology Lab at Birmingham City University’s Parkside building in Birmingham, UK from the 3rd to the 5th of July 2017. RPPW is an international biannual event that brings researchers from a range of disciplines together to engage in discussions about the scientific study of rhythm. Rhythm is at the core of a wide range of human tasks, from speaking and dancing, to walking and synchronising with others. The workshop is traditionally centred around psychology and neuroscience, however this year we have a number of workshops, oral presentations and posters from the Music Information Retrieval Community. Keynotes: Beat tracking evaluation from the MIR perspective: How we try to measure if computer algorithms can tap the beat Matthew E. P. Davies, Sound and Music Computing Group, INESC TEC Psychological processes and brain mechanisms in rhythmic interpersonal coordination Peter E. Keller, The MARCS Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Development, Western Sydney University Workshops: Automatic beat and downbeat tracking Sebastian Böck, Department of Computational Perception, Johannes Kepler University Jason Hockman, Digital Media Technology Lab, Birmingham City University MoCap Toolbox Birgitta Burger, Finnish Centre for Interdisciplinary Music Research, University of Jyväskylä Exploring rhythm through the movements of the body Arnould Massart, Conservatoire Royal de Bruxelles Bayesian approaches to time and timing Darren Rhodes, Sackler Centre for Consciousness Science, University of Sussex Max Di Luca, School of Psychology, University of Birmingham The full program is now available online: http://dmtlab.bcu.ac.uk/rppw2017/program/.
