MED-EL is looking for a Research Engineer or Scientist for our North American Research Laboratory. Please find the advertisement below:

MED-EL produces a variety of implantable hearing solutions. The purpose of the North American Research Laboratory is to conduct basic and applied research studies to facilitate further advances in MED-EL’s hearing implant technologies. The laboratory utilizes evoked potentials, computational modeling, and behavioral testing to study the human auditory system and translate scientific discovery into improved outcomes with cochlear implants and device-based hearing treatments. The laboratory is located in MED-EL’s North American headquarters in Durham, North Carolina and is seeking a full-time research engineer or research scientist to contribute to the development and application of sound coding strategies for auditory prostheses, research tools, and study protocols. 

Responsibilities include:
• Research and technical support of research related to advanced auditory prostheses
• Management of research studies from study start-up through study close-out
• Development of research tools (software)
• Implementation of novel stimulation strategies for cochlear implants
• Preparation of study reports
• Coordination of studies with members of MED-EL’s R&D teams in Innsbruck, Austria

Minimum requirements:
• A Master’s degree or higher in Engineering or Science
• Experience in designing, executing, and documenting auditory research protocols, preferably with humans implanted with cochlear implants
• Proficiency in MATLAB programming
• Excellent oral and written communication skills (English)
