[AUDITORY] job opportunity - Cochlear - Research Audiologist

we are looking for a Research Audiologist to extend our team in Hannover, Germany – please see below.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research on cochlear implant sound coding algorithms and fitting strategies, including
    • Development and maintenance of algorithm implementations in a real-time simulation system (Simulink, XPC)
    • Clinical evaluation of algorithms and fitting strategies, through psychoacoustic testing with CI recipients
  • Collaborate with research partners at Hannover Medical School (MHH) and with Cochlear research clusters
  • Co-ordinate research contributions from audiologists, surgeons and other clinical staff
  • Deliver research outcomes that are relevant for Cochlear Research and Development, and that help to maintain or raise the scientific profile of MHH
  • Contribute to planning of research, clear definition of research questions and project goals
  • Author internal project documentation and publications for conferences and peer-reviewed journals
  • Identify opportunities for future research collaborations, contribute to project proposals

In this contract role you will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to Cochlear's successful history of innovation by applying your knowledge of research on medical devices.

 

Key Requirements :

To add value to Cochlear in this role you will be able to demonstrate the following skills and experience in your application and at interview:

  • A Ph.D. level scientific degree in life sciences, physics or engineering
  • Proven experience in audiological or psychoacoustics research, preferably in a field involving cochlear implants
  • Proven experience in implementing, documenting and testing audio signal processing algorithms, preferably using Matlab/Simulink
  • Proven experience in planning and executing research studies in a field involving medical devices
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English), including demonstrable abilities to author scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Fluent in German
  • A problem-solving and self-driven state of mind: a methodical, analytical and result-oriented focus, an ability to work autonomously and a motivation to take initiative
