PhD position in Signal Processing at the University of Hamburg, Germany
Dear list,
a PhD position is available in the newly founded Signal Processing
research group at the University of Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany.
The focus of the group is on algorithms for processing speech and audio
signals with applications in hearing aids, communication devices, and
human-machine interfaces. In this context, possible PhD topics include
single- and multichannel speech enhancement (reducing the impact of
noise and reverberance), computational auditory scene analysis
(localizing, classifying, and separating source signals), sensor and
information fusion (combine information from different sensors and
modalities, such as audio, vision, EEG, ...). Typical methods include
Bayesian estimation, statistical and physical modeling, as well as
modern machine learning methods. The typical tasks of a PhD student
include developing and implementing new algorithms, performing
experiments to test the methods, writing scientific publications, and
traveling to conferences and workshops to present the work.
This full-time position (TVL-13) includes the responsibility to teach 4
hours/week in the computer science department.
