Call for papers – SysMus 2016
SysMus, or the International Conference of Students of Systematic Musicology, is a series of conferences for students by students. SysMus promotes systematic musicology as an interdisciplinary field by giving students who study music from computational, psychological,
sociological and other non-traditional perspectives the opportunity to interact with each other and with successful professionals in the field.
The SysMus conference series offers students the chance to practice conference organizing, practice presenting their research, visit internationally recognized institutions in systematic musicology, and network in an interdisciplinary environment.
The 2016 International Conference of Students of Systematic Musicology (SysMus) will take place from June 8-10, 2016 at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. Masters- and doctoral-level researchers are invited to submit abstracts proposing oral or poster presentation
as part of the conference.
Submission guidelines:
Abstracts should be no more than 300 words in length, be written in English, and address one of the conference topics listed below. All submissions will be considered for both spoken paper and poster presentation. However, the author can indicate a preference
for either spoken or poster presentation in the submission form. All abstracts will be submitted via an online system (see below).
Researchers should avoid referring to their own names within the submitted abstracts, as acceptance will be determined by anonymous peer review. Researchers may submit only one abstract.
Oral presentations will be allocated a slot of 30 minutes, with 20 minutes for the presentation, 8 minutes for discussion, and two minutes to prepare for the next talk.
Poster presentations will have a designated time slot and presentation space that does not overlap with any other activity.
All accepted presenters are invited to submit a 4-6-page proceedings article that will be published online.
