Research Audiologist needed at New York University School of Medicine Interested in working as a researcher in the field of cochlear implants/hearing aids? There is a position available for a research audiologist in
the Department of Otolaryngology at the New York University School of Medicine in New York City. We are searching for an audiologist
(M.A., AuD or Ph.D. in Audiology) who will assist our investigators (Drs. Mario Svirsky and Arlene Neuman) with research relevant to the coordinated fitting of devices for persons who
use both cochlear implants and hearing aids. We investigate sound perception with each device, and aspects of psychoacoustic and speech recognition performance relevant to bimodal integration of sound.
Current knowledge of cochlear implant and hearing aid technology and fitting procedures is required. Applicants must be eligible for the New York State Audiology license and New York State Hearing Aid Dispensing License. Primary duties will be to recruit, schedule, and test research subjects, and manage the resulting data. Previous experience in administering behavioral tests (speech
and/or psychoacoustic) is required; prior research experience would be beneficial. This position will give you the opportunity to learn more about how users of cochlear implants and hearing aids perceive sound and what we can do to improve that perception.
