[AUDITORY] Ph.D. position available in Auditory Cognitive Science



Ph.D. Research Assistantship available in Auditory Cognitive Science


The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of South Carolina invites applications to our Ph.D. program.

A funded Ph.D. student research assistantship is available in the Speech Perception Laboratory (http://sph.sc.edu/comd/fogerty) under the direction of Dr. Dan Fogerty. The USC Speech Perception Laboratory investigates speech understanding difficulties of older adults under adverse listening conditions. The position is supported by an award from the National Institutes of Health (NIDCD).  

Students interested in pursuing advanced research training in speech perception, speech acoustics, hearing science, or auditory cognitive science are encouraged to contact Dr. Fogerty (fogerty@xxxxxx) regarding research training opportunities.  Candidates with backgrounds in related fields are encouraged to apply.  

The Ph.D. program at USC provides opportunities for students to acquire advanced skills in areas such as digital signal processing, psychoacoustics, neuroimaging, brain stimulation, eye-tracking, and cochlear implants. The Department has strong ties within the Arnold School of Public Health, the USC Institute for Mind and Brain, and the McCausland Center for Brain Imaging. The University of South Carolina has a Carnegie Foundation ranking of “very high research activity.”
