HEARING RESEARCH ENDOWED CHAIR

The University of Louisville School of Medicine (established 1837) invites nominations and applications for the position of Heuser Hearing Research Endowed Chair. The Endowed Chair is a collaboration between the School of Medicine, College of Arts and Sciences, and The Edith and Henry Heuser Hearing Research Institute. It is designated for research focusing on the etiology, prevention, treatment, and/or pathophysiology of deafness/hearing loss and /or its biological, psychological, and social consequences. 

The Heuser Hearing Institute (HHI), established in 2001, is a comprehensive regional âCenter of Excellenceâ which includes audiological, vestibular, ear-related medical, early education and research components. HHI specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of children and adults who experience hearing and/or balance issues, as well as, having an early childhood education program for children with hearing loss and speech delays. The Heuser Hearing Research Endowed Chair will have access to HHI patients and students (pediatrics to geriatrics) who could be potential research subjects. The academic rank of this tenure track position is open (Assistant Professor to Professor). The candidate must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D and an outstanding academic record. The selected candidate will be a nationally recognized scholar with a vigorous research program as evidenced by significant federal funding. A demonstrated record of collaborative research is essential, as one of the goals is for the individual to build a research presence within the Heuser Hearing Institute that contributes to the Instituteâs existing research, clinical and/or educational activities.
