Announcing a post-doctoral position in music cognition
POST-DOCTORAL POSITION IN MUSIC COGNITION AT THE DEPARTMENT OF
PSYCHOLOGY, MCGILL UNIVERSITY in Montreal, QC. The post-doctoral
scholar will work in the laboratory of Dr. Daniel Levitin studying
melody recognition under transformations in pitch, rhythm, meter,
tempo and timbre. A Ph.D. in cognitive psychology or a closely
related discipline is required, and background in one or more of the
following areas is preferred: music cognition, categorization,
psychophysics, auditory perception, concept formation, or memory.
Starting date is flexible between March 1, 2010 and September 1, 2010
and is for one year, renewable. Applicants should submit a c.v.,

McGill University's psychology department has a distinguished history
of auditory research, and offers many opportunities for
cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary research through
affiliations with the Schulich School of Music, the Medical School,
the Montreal Neurological Institute, and the Centre for
Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology. Montreal is
known as a lively and dynamic city, a major cultural center with a
vibrant music and arts scene, including the Montreal Symphony
Orchestra, the Montreal Jazz Festival, and two major museums.
