(sorry for cross-postings)

CALL FOR PAPERS: f(MIR)
1st WORKSHOP ON THE FUTURE OF MIR (ISMIR 2009 SPECIAL SESSION)

This workshop, solely organized by students, will take place during
ISMIR 2009.

f(MIR) homepage: http://www.columbia.edu/~tb2332/fmir/

ISMIR homepage: http://ismir2009.ismir.net/program.html

The goal of this workshop is to discuss the future of Music
Information Retrieval (MIR).
What if the problems currently being investigated within the MIR
community are solved? What will the future hold?

Music Information Retrieval currently encompasses a wide body of
research. Our focus is specifically to bring into focus those topics
of Music Information Retrieval that are presently not in the
spotlight, and those potentially represented in future ISMIR
conferences. While we are interested in the topics suggested in the
ISMIR call for papers (http://ismir2009.ismir.net/cfp.html), we are
also interested in topics generally presented at conferences such as
ICMC, DAFX, NIME, and ICASSP, as many recent papers in these
conferences share interests and methods with our field.

SUBMISSION DATE: June 19th 2009

The submission format is an extended abstract (max. 3 pages). While
there will be a review process and the committee will be comprised
exclusively of students, all are welcome to submit! For more details
about the submission, please follow the provided link:

We are looking forward to ISMIR 2009, the future of Music Information
Retrieval, and thank you for your submissions!
